THE WHAT:
Taking an 'In Focus' look at the 'Hinge & Fold' breathing form. Find the associated resource here: https://www.movemorevrl.com/videos/standing-hinge-fold
Resource contents:
00:05 - Introduction & on 'breathing-forms'
02:06 - On form, structure & execution
04:45 - On variations in 'folded' form (heels together)
06:16 - On rising to "perch" on balls of feet
09:25 - On breathing-pattern & coordination
12:02 - On addition of 'NBP' (no-breathing pause)
Here we add both variation and depth to execution of the form - an option of keeping the HEELS pressed together throughout, rather than knees together, elicits subtle, active adduction. This is valuable when wishing to bring attention to the center-line of the body, and has application to the likes of preparation in Handstand practice.
Depth is added in integrating a no-breathing pause/'NBP' in both the top and bottom positions, extending its length throughout the set. The effect of this will be felt as an immediate calming down of the entire system, increase in presence, awareness, and focus, and slight stimulation of air-hunger. This makes it great as part of a morning practice, breathwork practice, or as part of a warm-up in any main session to facilitate "arriving" into your space.
