High box 'step-up'
Weighted strength-development
•
4m 24s
THE WHAT:
A loaded, unilateral-emphasis context developing strength through the range of a high 'step-up' pattern. As the movement begins "bottom/up" firstly with a CONCENTRIC phase (i.e. as in a 'Deadlift'), to express maximal "starting-strength" optimal structure must be locked in from the BEGINNING, challenging knee-stability on the way up as well as the CONTROLLED return to the floor. An innately unilateral context (i.e. 1 leg working at a time), it can also help to identify and develop any "imbalances" between left & right sides.

0:32 - High box step-up (unilateral)

Single-leg 'Good-morning' & 'RDL'
THE WHAT:
Due to the sheer strength-potential of the posterior-chain and limitations in applying "mechanical dis-/advantage" in form & structure, it is difficult to effectively load unilateral-hinging patterns without the addition of external load (unlike the 'Shrimp squat', for example, which of... -
The Split-squat
THE WHAT:
The 'split-squat' is a fundamental strength & loaded-mobility development drill which should NOT be confused for a traditional 'lunge'. The main differences are that the split-squat maintains a fermur-to-femur sagittal line, meaning that stance has the back & front foot on the SAME forw... -
Dumbbell Romanian Deadlift (DB RDL)
THE WHAT:
A dumbbell variation of the foundational 'Romanian deadlift'. Review the in-depth 'RDL' for further nuances of practice which are entirely transferrable to the dumbbell variation, as well as programming recommendations: https://www.movemorevrl.com/videos/the-romanian-deadlift_________...
