THE WHAT:
This initially bipedal pattern provides an efficient method for entering the floor through the level of ‘low-gait’ and transitioning through what is essentially a ‘Helicopter roll’, to floor-exit. Within the patterning notice how the ‘Pu-bu’ form transitions into a COSASACK form, shifting from having the forward, extended leg INTERNALLY rotated (front-foot facing FORWARD with sole in FULL contact with the ground), then going through EXTERNAL rotation and pulling the toes toward the body (active DORSIFLEXION) to “open” better access to the floor.
From the bottom position of the ‘Cossack squat’, the availability of entrance to the floor is significantly MOBILITY-dependent, and if there is still some restriction then it is also perfectly possible to USE THE HANDS against the floor to facilitate a SOFT and CONTROLLED entry of the backside into the floor.
