THE WHAT
The backward-roll on the gymnastics rings is an advanced skill which requires a very strong foundation of physical-preparation & capacity-development to make its practice both safe, and productive. If well-invested, however, it can be seen as the fruits of a long journey of work spent with preparatory forms beginning all the way from the humble ‘P-bars’ and ‘Ring-dip’, a side-tour into the ‘Rings forward-roll’, advancement to the ‘Korean-dip’ on both bars & rings, the complementary ‘Pelican-curl’, the isometric ‘Bent-arm planche’, and all of their integration into extended, self-directed rings sequences.
