'Bipedal' locomotion: foundational patterns & conditioning
•
2m 54s
THE WHAT:
A locomotive pattern for developing & conditioning overhead straight-arm strength. Whilst the contexts are entirely scalable to the practitioner, a MAXIMAL effort should be made for a straight-arm, overhead press on each "step", regardless of variation.
As strength & mobility come to be more unified over time, this will gradually translate into the momentary sensation of "carrying" the weight of the body entirely in the arms.

The ‘AT-AT walker’
THE WHAT:
A "high-gait" quadrupedal locomotion pattern inspired by the giant machine ‘AT-AT's’ of the Star Wars universe. Whilst restrictions in posterior-chain mobility can be the main challenge in adhering to the one and only rule in this context, keeping the backside as HIGH as possible throug... -
Arm-initiated 'gait-pivots' (4-levels)
THE WHAT:
A bipedal-locomotion concept teaching use of the arms in generating rotational-momentum in 4 'gait-leves': 'standing', 'high', 'mid', and 'low'. The principle is essentially of "weight-shifting" the body's vertical-axis to a unilateral one over the forward-foot, establishing it as a 'pi... -
Walking front & back sagittal-kicks
THE WHAT:
A bipedal, locomotion-conditioning context which expresses & develops the elasticity of the legs (both posterior & anterior-chain) through the practice of walking kicks, in the sagittal plane.___________________
