Ledge drop-downs
Jumping & landing mechanics

THE WHAT:
A foundational context for develop & expressing the potential for force-absorption & dissipation of landing impacts. Its refinement is very much guided by the INTENTION of optimally light landings, although this can be facilitated by perspectives such as "receiving the floor with the feet and even visualisations of light-landings embodied in the likes of the cat or the ninja.
To begin, choose a height which 80% of landings are both subjectively (feeling of impact) and objectively (sound) "light". This should ideally, however, begin at a MINIMUM of mid-shin level so that the impact itself is sufficient enough to evoke a prehabilitative stimulus and adaptation. Depending on repetitions and success-rate, it can be increased to knee-height, mid-thigh, and even hip-height.
To allow for an added and equal prehabilitative stimulus when the ledge is at ca. knee-height or lower, ALTERNATE the leg which steps backward back up the ledge.
