Dynamic-headstands (HeSt) 2 & FA (leg-proprioception)
Headstands

THE WHAT & HOW:
Increasing the vocabulary and dexterity of the fundamental static headstand (HeSt) by expressing controlled leg movement in the sagittal and frontal planes, alongside straddle-press variations. This develops a more adaptable inversion where leg organisation is continuously modulated while the upper structure maintains stable support.
Resource contents:
0:05 - A1. Sagittal HeSt scissors / MS: 10x total switches
0:42 - A2. Frontal HeSt scissors / MS: 10x
1:16 - A3. Straddle-press HeSt / MS: 10x
2:02 - B1. Headstand static free-association (FA)
The focus is on global proprioception of the legs in inversion, where the limbs operate increasingly independently from the base while balance is maintained through the head and arms. This refines awareness of leg position in space under changing load and support conditions. This also transfers to other inversion skills such as handstands, where similar demands exist in maintaining balance while the legs are dynamically organised. The headstand becomes a context for coordination under inverted conditions with variable lower-limb expression.
Once established, the practitioner begins to link variations into free-association between leg shapes, integrating sagittal scissor, frontal split, and straddle-press patterns into continuous transitions rather than isolated drills. Over time, this builds a more responsive inverted system where changing leg configurations no longer disrupt stability, supporting clearer control and adaptability in more advanced ground acrobatic contexts.

Headstand (HeSt) entries 1 (Role)
THE WHAT & HOW:
Foundational entries to and exits from headstand (HeSt) forms using the transitional 'Role', characterised by a circular, transverse-rotational trajectory from squat-level space into inversion. The focus is on connecting lower-level locomotion directly into structured inversion wi... -
Helix-headstand
THE WHAT & HOW:
The headstand helix expands the dynamic headstand vocabulary into the transverse plane, introducing rotational organisation through the inverted structure. While functioning as a dynamic headstand variation, it also serves as a key context for developing counter-rotation between t... -
Headstand (HeSt) entries 2 (knee to f...
THE WHAT:
Taking a more frontal-plane oriented entrance into and exit from the headstand (HeSt) form, shifting weight through a controlled knee-based pathway rather than a rotational entry. From a squat position, the body transfers load sequentially through foot, knee, hands, and head, using the ...
